Whispering Interpreting is where the interpreter sits next to the person needing to understand the foreign language and whispers what’s being said in their ear.

No special equipment is required and the interpreting is near real-time.

If the person being interpreted to wishes to speak their Whispering Interpreter will speak on their behalf.

The aim to provide personal language support to an individual within a group without impacting the group as a whole.

As no special equipment is required, Whispering Interpreters can walk and talk making them ideal for site visits.

    Things to be aware of

    Whispering interpreters work best on a one-to-one basis.

    Where accompanying a small group on, say, a site visit it’s usually fine to hire just one interpreter for several delegates.

    However, in business meetings it’s much better if each delegate have their own interpreter so as not to cause disruption for other delegates.

    If you know in advance, or even suspect, that your Whispering Interpreter may be required to attend dinner with your group, please mention this at the time of booking.

    If the subject matter being discussed is highly specialised, please provide as much background as possible to help us select the most appropriate individual for your needs.

    It’s sometimes easy to forget that all industries have their own special vocabulary and acronyms.
